Research and Teaching
The notion of alterity or otherness is at the centre of my work and I approach it by showing and making explicit how literature and different literary genres function as spaces of encounter. My current book-length project focuses on the aphorism as an interface between literature and philosophy. It seeks to establish the theoretical framework needed to address conceptual and ideological questions at stake when addressing the genre of the aphorism. I am interested in the ways in which short forms of enunciation and fragmentary writing partake both and at the same time in the making and in the questioning of democratic cultures. I teach language and literature as well as two Honours modules on 'French Modern Thought' and 'Novels and their Film adaptations'.
