Research and Teaching

My research area is Arabic linguistics and lexicography, more specifically Early Arabic and Qur’anic Studies, and Digital Humanities. In my published dissertation in Arabic Studies, I analysed the morphology, phonetics, function, semantics and rhetorical use of hapax legomena in the Qur’an. I also compiled an Arabic-English dictionary of the 3,500 most frequent lemmas of contemporary Media Arabic which cover 95% of an Arabic media text based on a corpus of 23.5 million tokens.

Currently, I teach Classical Arabic literature at Honours level, in the following modules: Key Texts in Classical Arabic Literature and Culture 1 and Key Texts in Classical Arabic Literature and Culture 2.
