Student Life

The German Society (a.k.a. Gersoc) is a long-standing, union-affiliated society. The student-run German Society organizes a popular weekly Stammtisch, an annual Oktoberfest and other irregular events throughout the year. There is also a Film Club that shows German films.

A play in German, in which students of the German Department are actively involved, is performed every year during the second semester. This is always a huge success: plays have been on tour and performed in the National Drama Week.

Meetings of the Student/Staff Council for German take place once in each semester. Student representatives for each year are nominated and, if there is more than one nomination, may be elected, before each meeting. The Students' Association issues a Student/Staff Councils Representatives' Handbook.
