Eduardo Tasis Moratinos, who received his PhD last semester, has been successful in obtaining the post of Assistant Lecturer (on a twelve-month contract) at the National University of Ireland, Maynooth.

Ms Giovanna Della Cioppa recently visited the School as an Erasmus Administrator’s Exchange. She had been to St Andrews for the Mundus Crossways AGM in 2009 so when she was given the opportunity to travel within the Erasmus exchange scheme, she thought of her Mundus colleagues in Scotland, and the friendly welcome from the office staff in the School of Modern Languages.

Bernard Bentley’s summer activities
- June 9th 2011 presented a paper at the Scottish Consortium for Film and Visual Studies Annual Conference on “Film and Memory” (Stirling) “The presence of Memories in Guillermo del Toro’s El laberinto del fauno/Pan Labyrinth (2006)”
- Submitted article “The ‘Ars vivendi’ of Laura Mañà’s Morir en San Hilario/To Die in San Hilario (2005)” to Studies in European Cinema ISSN: 17411548; at present being peer reviewed.
- Carnegie Trust funding (£1582) to visit Filmoteca Española in Madrid to check archives for project entitled “Three specific examples of Spanish Film Censorship (1947, 1962, 1976)” – this covers two separate articles written and almost completed this Summer and awaiting integration of materials collected in the Filmoteca.
- Continuing his database of initial credit sequences.
