Studying in Italy: The University system in Italy follows the structure of 3 years of study to the BA and 2 years to the MA. Admission to a university is selective in some universities and non selective in others. Selection is organised via admission entry exams. The higher education sector is larger than in the UK. Because of the large number of students, and the strain on resources which this imposes, contacts with tutors and the administration are likely to be much more anonymous than in a British university. The anonymity of the University system is compensated by the warmth and friendliness of the people and by the lively cultural life. British Erasmus students in Italy are likely to meet many fellow students from other European countries, as Italian Universities often have Erasmus exchanges with many countries. This is a clear indication that a period of study at an Italian university can be enormously beneficial in terms of linguistic, cultural and personal development.

The Department of Italian has an exchange agreements with the Universities of Padua and Verona.
