The Hispanic Society is an extremely active and fast growing society. Members include students of Spanish, native speakers and anyone with an interest in Hispanic culture. The society holds a wide range of events from week to week. Regular events include the bi-weekly lunches which provide an opportunity to sample food from all areas of the Hispanic world, in addition to sangria nights, themed ‘cenas’ and a sell out annual ball. Due to popular demand, this year has seen the re-introduction of informal Spanish conversation afternoons (over coffee). These have been a great success. The 'At Home and Abroad Society' (AHAsoc) is a support and social network for students who choose to take a year or semester abroad as part of their degree - whether it be as a Language Assistant or studying in Europe on ERASMUS, or across the Atlantic in the USA and Canada. We hold informal drop-in sessions and evening socials throughout the year, as well as organising a popular Christmas Market Trip to Edinburgh. This year we have also started reaching out to Erasmus students from Europe who are studying at St Andrews through our weekly coffee mornings. These events are a great chance to meet people also considering time abroad, those currently on an exchange in St Andrews and also people who have recently returned from overseas. We look forward to seeing you at one of our next events! For more information, you can contact us at: ahasocmail@st-andrews.ac.uk, or visit the AHAsoc website.
