Research and Teaching
My main research activity is in the field of Translation Studies, specifically in translation in the Middle Ages as a cultural and linguistic phenomenon, with particular reference to Biblical translations. I am also working on a project in Romance Linguistics relating to the emergence of vernaculars and the creation of vernacular literacy. These fields of research are related to my teaching in Linguistics, French and Mediaeval Studies, which includes Old French Literature, Romance Linguistics, and the historical and descriptive linguistics of French. I am willing to supervise doctoral research on topics of any period which involve Translation Studies or French or Romance Linguistics, and to contribute to supervision of students in Mediaeval Studies with colleagues in History, English, Art History or Philosophy.
