

Sandy Ross is a highly experienced television producer with extensive experience of management in the television industry.
Sandy qualified as a solicitor but moved into television production and management and has spent most of his working career there. He began his television career at Granada Television in Manchester. He joined Scottish Television in 1986 as the Controller of Entertainment. His appointment was part of the STV restructure of management and programme staff to enable the company to bid successfully for the return of its franchise in the 1990 franchise round.
In 1991 Sandy became Deputy Chief Executive of Scottish Television Enterprises. He travelled extensively attending world television markets and working with international broadcasters and producers.
In 1998 he became the Controller of Regional Production responsible for all regional production for Scottish Television and Grampian Television. He was responsible for a budget of £20m and a staff of three hundred programme makers. He was also involved in the integration of the Grampian television licence into the SMG Group.
From 1999 until 2005 Sandy was the Managing Director of Scottish Television with responsibility for running the regional licence. This position involved him in an executive management role as well as still being responsible for all programme output. He was also responsible to the television regulator the ITC and latterly Ofcom for ensuring that Scottish TV and Grampian TV complied with the terms of their licence.
In 2005 Sandy was appointed Managing Director of International Programme Development. He has extensive experience of working with international broadcasters. He was part of the SMG senior management team which was responsible for business planning and strategy.
In 2007 Sandy left SMG to set up MurrayfieldMedia Ltd. MurrayfieldMedia is an independent production company which is developing ideas for broadcasters.
Sandy is currently attached to the Nairn based company GHRL which provides Interim Management and Business Support and has also undertaken some mentoring work for the Edinburgh Chamber of Commerce. He is the Chair of the Salford Media Conference which is held annually in Salford and is the main television conference which considers television industry matters from a non metropolitan perspective.
Sandy is the Vice Chair of BAFTA Scotland.
