Images from our collections

There is a supervised Reading Room in the Richardson Research┬áLibrary at Martyrs Kirk, on North Street, open for use by visiting scholars and the general public, as well as staff and students of the University.

If you wish to consult items from our collections in the Napier Reading Room you can make an appointment either by completing the online form, emailing at speccoll@st-andrews.ac.uk, or telephoning on (01334) 467380/2339.

Please provide your preferred date and as much detail as you can of what you wish to consult. We will discuss with you an appropriate time and duration of your visit, and will provide directions to the new facility once your booking has been made.

All the collections have been re-located, and some have had to be out-stored. Our ability to fetch on demand will be very limited, a small amount of material may be unavailable or may take up to 48 hours to retrieve, and there may also have to be limits on how much material can be consulted at any one time.

There is a variety of facilities within the reading room, including power points for personal computers, a microfilm and microfiche reader and printer, scanning and photographic services.

Due to the rare and valuable nature of much of our collections we have strict rules regarding their handling.
