Von Hügel Collection

The library of Baron Friedrich von Hügel (1852-1925), Hon. LLD St Andrews 1921, philosopher of religion; bequeathed to St Andrews, received in 1926. It contains around 5000 volumes and represents a working library of mainly 19th and 20th century works on philosophy, religion and history; related especially to mysticism and the Catholic Modernist Movement; occasional pencilled annotations in von Hügel's hand. St Andrews also holds von Hügel's manuscript papers and other manuscripts relating to the Catholic Modernist Movement.
