External exhibitions

Papers, notebooks, letters, photographs and books from Special Collections are have been on loan to two exhibitions during 2010, celebrating the 150th anniversary of the birth of D'arcy Wentworth Thompson, a pioneer of of the study of life sciences, whose archive is held in the Department.  

  • D'arcy Thompson: Growth and Form, Lamb Gallery, Tower Building, University of Dundee, from 19 March to 22 May 2010, focussing on the 32 years he spent as Professor of Biology in Dundee and founder of the Zoology Museum, on his expeditions to the Bering Sea, interest in international fisheries, and the writing of his masterpiece 'On Growth and Form'.   • The Parrot and the Polymath, Gateway Galleries, 20 March to 3 May 2010, put on by Museums and Galleries students. More details.
