Images of the Valentine collection

Valentines was founded in 1851 by James Valentine in his home town of Dundee. This was a move from printing business stationary into portrait photographs and then topographical photographs, building up his best-selling postcard business. After many years of success and expansion, the market for postcards and their other photographic products faded and they finally closed in 1994.

The collection contains minute books, directors' reports, accounts, shareholders lists, and registers of members. Unfortunately there are no records of staff or the photographers who took all the images.
