Book a group study room in the Library
If you need a room to study together, discuss group projects or collaborations, you can book rooms in the main University Library.
How to use and book the rooms
These rooms cannot be used for individual study (with the exception of Study Room 5) and can only be booked by students. There are 4 Group Study Rooms (Rooms 1-4) on Level 2 of the Main Library, 3 rooms with 6 study spaces and 1 room with 8 spaces (pictured above). Each room can be used by a minimum of 2 and a maximum of 6 people (or 8 for Group Study Room 4). An additional 2 rooms are available on Level 4 – Group Study Room 5 can accommodate a maximum of 3 people but can be used for individual study. Group Study Room 6 can be used by a minimum of 2 and a maximum of 14.
**Please note that Room 5 is currently unavailable and will remain unavailable until the end of semester due to issues with sound-proofing**
Please remember to scan your card when you arrive at the room. If you forget to do this, after 10mins the booking will be lost from the system and the room will appear free. Someone else could then book while you are using it.
Bookings can be made up to 1 week in advance through the following website https://orpheus.st-andrews.ac.uk/RoomBooking/IsisRoomBooking.dll or, for immediate use, by using the keypads at the doors to each room - see below.
Terms and conditions
Please read the Group Study Rooms Terms and Conditions Dec 2012 (PDF, 293 KB) for full conditions of use.
Book a room online
Simply go to the room booking webpage, select the date you would like to book a room and then enter your Library card number (barcode on the back of your ID card).
The system will then email you with a confirmation of your booking and a PIN number.
You need both your student card and this PIN number to access the room you have booked. Scan your card at the box outside the room and then enter the PIN on the keypad.
You can book a room for a maximum of 2 hours per week.
If you no longer require a booking, please use the 'Cancel an Existing Booking' link (shown above) on the online system.
Book a room using the door panel
If a room is free you can simply scan your card at the door to make a booking (but only for immediate use).
