Library Store

As we continue to expand our collections with new titles and new editions we need to make room to hold them in the Main University Library. To do this we move items which have been borrowed less frequently from the open shelves to the Library store.

In addition we are now trialling a process of “quick cataloguing” during 2013. This makes new purchases easily available for recall and borrowing on SAULCAT at a much earlier date. It means that a proportion of new material is shelved in the Library Store and can be recalled on SAULCAT in the usual way and with same prompt service.

Although these items have been moved to the Library store, you can still borrow them!

Books and periodicals with their location marked in SAULCAT as 'Main Library Store' are located in the Library Store. They can be recalled in the same way as recalling a book checked out to another reader. Books and periodicals available to be recalled will have their status marked as 'Available for Recall'.

How to recall an item:

1. Search SAULCAT (Library catalogue)

2. Check if the item STATUS is 'Available for Recall'

3. Click on the 'Recall' button

4. Enter the barcode number on your ID card

5. Select the item

6. Click 'Request selected item'

7. Collect your item from the hold shelf in the Main Library's Short Loan area.

We aim for a speedy service, check your library record for notification. If we have any problems fulfilling your request we will email you.

If you have difficulties recalling an item or you'd like more information, please ask at the Library Helpdesk, give us a call (+44 (0)1334 462283) or email (library@st-andrews.ac.uk).
