Library Charity Policy

Wednesday 14 December 2011

The Library has decided to adopt a system of annually supporting one charity event which is University-specific and one external charity more related to the work of libraries.

We will select a day in Semester 1 where all Library fines collected will be donated to Book Aid International.  A second date will be chosen for Semester 2 and fines collected on that day will be donated to RAG Week:

  • Book Aid International is a charity which seeks to increase access to books, and supports literacy, education and development in sub-Saharan Africa. It was founded in 1954 and has sent more ¿than 30 million books to partner libraries.
  • RAG Week takes place each February and is coordinated by the University’s Charities Campaign, a subcommittee of the Students’ Association.  Each year the students of the University are given the chance to vote for 6 charities to be supported by the campaign the following academic year

More information about the Library’s Charity Policy is available here: Charity policy (Word, 30 KB).
