JF Allen Library
Location
On the top floor of the School of Physics and Astronomy building on the North Haugh.
Subjects covered
The Library comprises the departmental libraries of the Schools of Physics and Astronomy, Mathematics and Statistics, and Computer Science, plus some Chemistry and general science resources. There is also a small collection of Medicine and Biology books.
Access and borrowing
University of St Andrews staff and students have full access and borrowing rights. Your staff or student card serves as your library card.

- You can use the self-issue and return machine located near the staff desk during all opening hours
- When staff are on duty they can also issue books to you
Opening hours
The Library is open on weekdays (except during the Christmas break). Full details of opening hours are displayed in the column to the right.
Please note that opening hours may sometimes change at short notice. If travelling to visit us you are advised to check with the library to confirm details.
Library catalogue
SAULCAT, the University Library's online catalogue contains records of all books and journals held by the JF Allen Library.
Other facilities
Photocopying
The University is changing the way it manages printing, photocopying and scanning, new Multi-Function Devices are being installed. More details to follow, for now IT Services have some information on their UniPrint.
The Multi-Function Devices (MFDs) will let you print, photocopy and scan from the same machine. Facilities will be available on Levels 2, 3 and 4 of the Main Library and at St Mary's College Library, and the JF Allen Library .
Networked PCs
The library has a small cluster of PCs. The library is also set up for the use of laptops with a wireless internet connection.
