Who we are

"I've seen that Lean is bringing the University closer together. People talk to each other now in a way they didn't before." - Finance

Who's in the Lean Team

The Lean Team involves potentially... everyone! The aim of Lean is to involve all members of staff across the University in continually improving their own processes.

So far over 300 staff from every School and Unit have been involved directly in at least one Lean project, with many more staff having been consulted in the process of redesign and assisting in the implementation of projects coming from Lean.

Commenting on Lean at St Andrews, Fin says: “St Andrews is a great university in a wonderful town and working here has been as enjoyable as my time as an undergraduate. This is as much to do with the people as the place and I am looking forward to developing further working relationships through my role in Lean.”

Prior to Lean, Fin managed the PC Clinic team within IT Services and acted as the university’s Assistive Technology advisor. He began his career in journalism, working for local newspaper and national magazine publications and continues to do so in a freelance capacity.

Fin was born and brought up in Glasgow before coming to St Andrews to study History and take up a golf scholarship. He is married and has two children and enjoys playing acoustic guitar and writing.

Fin holds an MA(Hons)
