Services offered by the Lean Team for the University of St Andrews include:
Lean Change Project
Description:
Lean Change projects are a structured means of delivering process change across the University
- Request - A one to two hour meeting to determine the preliminary definition of the issue or change needed
- Scoping - Typically, a half day meeting involving key staff with authority in the project area to determine high level goals, team members and resourcing. At this stage the Lean team may visit the workplace to gain an understanding of the work environment
- Planning - A half day with the project team members to plan the approach to the redesign
- Training - Provided as needed in Lean principles, tools and techniques
- Redesign - A Rapid Improvement Event (RIE) A facilitated workshop to analyse and redesign business processes consisting of a core workshop of 2 to 5 consecutive days involving 6- 12 staff from relevant business areas
- Implementation - Led by the project team to effect the process change designed in the RIE
- Review - A series of meetings to gauge progress and remove barriers to implementation
- Feedback - The final project meeting to review the outcome of the project and record lessons learned

Description:
Provision of bespoke consulting services
- Informal discussions for individuals or groups to provide:
- Knowledge of University processes
- Advice and problem solving
- An objective perspective
- Formal consulting services
- Lean change projects

- Workshop facilitation services
- Neutral facilitation to enable positive communication
- Enable creative thinking
- Apply appropriate analytical tools

- An independent body to ensure that the project’s direction and management are suitable for the nature of the project
