Talk by Xavier Albó.
June 17 2008. We are fortunate that the well known linguist, anthropologist and indianist Xavier Albo will be in Fife on a visit to St Andrews during the 17-18 June. Resident in Bolivia, Dr Albó is one of the longest-serving, most active and most committed of Indian and Indigenous Rights scholar-activists working in Latin America. He has studied and speaks Aymara, Quechua and Guarani, has spoken in countless meetings of indian leaders, has advised governments on everything from landrights to census policy, has the traditional Jesuit's sympathetic interest in native religions, and is an obligatory port of call for all interested in the future of the indian inhabitants of the continent.
