Business Innovation Exchange (BIE)

The BIE is a unique parternship among St Andrews, Edinburgh Napier and Queen Margaret Universities that blends the expertise of modern and ancient institutions to provide SMEs with easier access to academic know how, facilities and intellectual property.

The BIE focuses on addressing business needs and provides SMEs with access to innovation support across priority industry sectors.  Secotres supported by the BIE includes Energy & Renewables, Sustainable Construction, Life Sciences, Tourism, Creative Industries, Manufacturing & Materials and Food & Drink.

The ultimate aim of the BIE is to assist SMEs in the development and improvement of products, processes and services; increasing business competitiveness and creating new jobs for the Scottish economy.

The University of St Andrews is seeking to match innovative ideas from businesses with world leading research and infrastructure within the University, provide funding options for collaborative projects and encourage the development of a virtuous cycle of interaction with businesses.
