Connect your mobile device to the University wireless network
The University of St Andrews data network can be accessed from compatible wireless-enabled devices by way of eduroam. Eduroam (EDUcation ROAMing) is the roaming infrastructure used by the international research and education community that provides the eduroam user experience. More information on the eduroam services is available from the eduroam web site
Being part of eduroam allows users to access a wireless network at a participating visited institution simply using the same credentials (for instance, username and password) the users would use if they were at their home institution.
Examples of compatible devices
- Apple iPhone 5/4S/4
- Apple iPad, iPad II, iPad 3rd Generation
- Android OS smartphones (Android 2.1 or later)
- Some Windows Mobile devices
How to get connected
- Enable your smartphone's wireless capability
- Connect to the uos-connect wi-fi access point
- Open a browser on your smartphone and enter any web URL - you will be redirected automatically to a University wireless network landing page at bandit.st-andrews.ac.uk/connect
- Click the link to Eduroam
- Log in with your St Andrews user details (username and email password). This will start the Eduroam certificate and profile installation
- Follow the on-screen instructions. When prompted to enter your username during the Eduroam installation use your St Andrews username (eg abc123).
Connecting using an iDevice (Apple iPhone, iPad, or iPod Touch, etc)
In addition to the steps set out above, when you are connected to Eduroam tell your iDevice to forget uos-connect. This will stop your iDevice reverting to uos-conect if it loses the Eduroam signal.
- Click on the blue arrow next to uos-connect
- On the uos-connect screen select Forget this Network
