Configuring Netscape to accept certificates

Configuring Netscape for PC and Macintosh

Please note: The following instructions are suitable for both PC (Windows XP and 2000) and Macintosh (OSX) installation.

When you click on the link above you will be presented with the dialog box shown below. Tick the three options available then click the View button.

A new dialog box will open, allowing you to examine the St Andrews University certificate credentials.

Ensure that the version of the certificate being installed on your computer has the same SHA1 fingerprint as set out below. The SHA1 fingerprint is a sequence of characters which uniquely identifies the certificate as being genuine:

46:5E:7C:06:4C:55:76:F3:B3:7B:4E:5A:1E:A5:F4:3A:C6:0A:C2

If you wish you can examine the certificate in more detail. Click on the Detail tab to see more information about the certificate.

When you are happy that everything is OK click the OK button and the cerificate will be installed on your computer.

Configuring Netscape for the Mac

The procedure for installing the certificate on a Mac running OSX is the same as for the PC version. Please follow the instructions set out above.
