IT Training
We now offer acceditation through the Microsoft Office Specialist certification program. See the Microsoft Certification pages for more information.
IT training is currently available for University Staff and those on research postgraduate programs. The current training programmes have been developed primarily for the Microsoft Office 2010 suite for Windows. This program is delivered through courses, online materials and individual sessions. It is anticipated that support for Mac OS and a range of other software packages will be made available as resources are developed.
Courses
We deliver a series of IT training courses most months throughout the session designed to improve your efficiency at using the software. The courses currently scheduled for delivery are available from the University’s online course booking system (PDMS). The list is regularly updated so should be checked for recent additions. These courses take place in PC classrooms and are limited to a relatively small number of places to ensure adequate support, so booking is essential. The courses will however be repeated at intervals throughout the session. The aim is to deliver the complete Microsoft Office 2010 program over the course of the year. These courses are further supported by periodic drop-in sessions where you can seek assistance with specific documents. Details and descriptions for the full list of training courses in the Microsoft Office Suite are available from the Microsoft Office 2010 Training Courses page.
Online resources
The university subscribes to the Microsoft IT Academy. The Academy membership gives access to Microsoft E-Learning courses covering the full Office suite of programs. These multimedia courses allow flexibility to work on the material when you have time as they are stored in your online account. Further details about the range of Microsoft courses available and how to access them can be found on the Microsoft IT Academy page.
The University IT Services support unit have downloadable training materials from Watsonia Publishing for self-study on a variety of other software packages (e.g web authoring, etc). The link to the IT Training materials from Watsonia is available on the External courses and training materials page (when you click on the Watsonia link you will need to accept the copyright undertaking before access is granted).
Individual sessions
For those with more specific needs or requiring additional support, we can arrange tailored training sessions for single or several individuals. Please email us with further enquiries (see contact details).
