Set up UniPrint for use on a Mac running OSX 10.7 / 10.8
These instructions are for MacOSX 10.7. Earlier versions may have minor differences.
Click the Apple logo
Select System Preferences…
Select Print & Scan
Click the + sign to add a new printer
In order to add UniPrint as a printer the Advanced icon must be visible on the toolbar. If the Advanced icon is not visible add it to the toolbar as follows:
- Point your cursor at a blank part of the toolbar
- Hold the control (marked ctrl) key and click your mouse button
- Select Customize Toolbar from the menu which appears
- Drag the Advanced icon onto the toolbar
- Click Done to complete this part
- Click the Advanced button on toolbar.
- In Type select: Windows printing via spools
- In Device select: Other Device
- In the URL text box type: smb://uniprint.st-andrews.ac.uk/queue
- In the Name text box type: UniPrint (or similar)
- Location: leave blank
- In Print Using select: Generic Postscript Printer
- Click Add
- Place a tick in Duplex Printing Unit checkbox
- Click OK
