Set up UniPrint for use on a Mac running OSX 10.7 / 10.8

These instructions are for MacOSX 10.7. Earlier versions may have minor differences. 

Click the Apple logo
Select System Preferences…
Select Print & Scan
Click the + sign to add a new printer

In order to add UniPrint as a printer the Advanced icon must be visible on the toolbar.  If the Advanced icon is not visible add it to the toolbar as follows:

  • Point your cursor at a blank part of the toolbar
  • Hold the control (marked ctrl) key and click your mouse button
  • Select Customize Toolbar from the menu which appears
  • Drag the Advanced icon onto the toolbar
  • Click Done to complete this part
  1. Click the Advanced button on toolbar.
  2. In Type select: Windows printing via spools 
  3. In Device select: Other Device 
  4. In the URL text box type: smb://uniprint.st-andrews.ac.uk/queue  
  5. In the Name text box type: UniPrint (or similar)
  6. Location: leave blank 
  7. In Print Using select: Generic Postscript Printer
  8. Click Add
  9. Place a tick in Duplex Printing Unit checkbox
  10. Click OK
When printing a document or from within an application you will have to authenticate with your St Andrews username and password.
