Applications for connection to ResNet
To connect to ResNet you will first need to obtain the correct type of ethernet cable, these are Ethernet cables (or CAT5) which differ from modem cables supplied for slower telephone connections. Once you have this cable you can then follow instructions below;
1) Connect your cable to the socket and start your computer
2) Ensure your computer setup is correct (see computer setup)
3) Launch a preferred internet Browser (such as Mozilla Firefox)
4) Your browser will then be re-directed to the registration pages
5) Use your University username & password to login as directed
6) Proceed carefully through the on-screen instructions
7) Restart computer when requested
Once your computer has restarted you will be able to access a range of network services including email and the web.
If you have problems getting connected please go to 'How to get help'. Please note that cables are available for sale at the IT Helpdesk in the Main University Library or at a number of local shops, though we would advise students to come prepared if possible.
