Connecting to the University network
Anyone using the University's network must hold a valid computer username and password, and must be using a computer that is registered on the network.

The following connection methods give you direct access to the University network:
- main University network via a network socket in a University office
- Residence Network (ResNet)
- open access computer rooms
- University's wireless access points
- University's dial-up service (SARA)
You can get indirect access the University network, when connected to the Internet using an external Internet Service Provider (ISP): to connect indirectly to our network from an external ISP or another network elsewhere you must first configure a Virtual Private Network (VPN). Indirect access may be made either via:
- an external dial-up service
- a broadband service
Note that IT Services' user support for home broadband connections is limited.
