Computer passwords

Your main University computer password is used for a number of different purposes, including the following:

  • Getting access to your electronic mail
  • Logging on to the PCs in the computer classrooms
  • Getting access to restricted web pages and shared file space
  • Transferring files to the web server
  • Logging on with SSH to the IT Services Unix servers (if you are authorised to do so)
  • Signing in to centrally provided applications such as SITS or the Outlook Web App

Your main University computer password should not be confused with other passwords that you may use, for example when starting up your PC.
