Connecting to central file space for a group or sub-group
If you are an authorised user of a school or unit group or sub-group share you can connect (or map) to it as a standard network drive. When you have successfully connected to your school or unit's group you will be able to see all of sub-groups present within the group share. You will be able to open all of the sub-groups but you will only see files in those sub-groups you are authorised to use.
Mapping a network drive on a PC
In the following example we will map the K: drive to the Finance unit's group share, finance. When you map your own group substitute its name for finance:

If DNS is not set up on your PC you may have to enter the address as:
\\units.st-andrews.ac.uk\finance
- Tick Reconnect at logon
- Click Connect using a different user name
- Click the Finish button
- Log in using your University user name and password
If you are mapping to a School's group share map it as \\schools\<School name>
