Open Source Software

In addition to the many commercial products on the market there is a growing number of open source programs available within the area of Assistive Technology.

JISC

Many programs are free to source online but the best of them have been packaged together by the JISC Regional Support Centre for Scotland North and East and are free to download from their website

The JISC RSCs are the first point of contact for many educational institutions, providing information about JISC services, ICT-related awareness-raising, support and training.

'Stuart'

Call Scotland have recently teamed up with CereProc to create a Scottish synthetic voice. Thanks to funding from the Scottish Executive, 'Stuart' is now available for free to all HE students and can be downloaded here
