General Information

Declaration of Disability

Students can declare at various points to the University that they have a disability. Often this is prior to coming to University that they declare this on their UCAS form or University Accommodation form. It can also be later on a Declaration of Disability form.  Our disabilities team are made aware of all students who declare on such forms and make initial contact to provide information and to ensure that students provide appropriate documentation to the University. At this point they are also advised of Disabled Students Allowance and the process of application for this.

As well as this at matriculation we have a presence to meet students with a disability and to make an appointment for them to meet a member of our disability team to discuss appropriate arrangements for teaching, exams and any other requirements they may have. At this meeting Disabled Student's Allowance is introduced to students and their eligibility and needs discussed. In terms of dyslexic students we require to see an educational psychologist's report that is not over two years old. If the student does not have one then we will arrange for them to be assessed by our consultant educational psychologist.

Confidentiality

Students are informed of the University's confidentiality statement and asked to sign a personal details form that allows information to be given to appropriate members of staff at the University.
