Turnitin

TurnitinUK is an online "plagiarism detection" service supported by JISC. It enables academic staff to carry out text-based comparisons of student work against a vast archive of electronic resources such as

  • an archived database of student submissions (internal and external to the University)
  • current and archived instances of internet web pages
  • commercial databases of journal articles and periodicals

Turnitin assignments can be setup easily, using simple tools within the University's centrally supported Learning Management Systems i.e. Moodle and Module Management System (MMS). If you require assistance on creating a Turnitin assigment for students' submission of work, please contact the IT Service Desk (itservicedesk@st-andrews.ac.uk).
