Producting PDF files for distribution
In theory, PDF files should provide a solution to the printing problems as they do to the access problems referred to earlier. Unfortunately we have experienced severe difficulties caused by some PDF files when they are sent to the classroom printers. While some of these difficulties have been resolved by a re-configuration of the classroom printing system, there are others which are caused by the files themselves.
One way to create PDF files is to use the Adobe Acrobat software directly from your Office application. To do this you need the Acrobat writer, which unlike the Reader is not free. Because of the difficulties we have experienced with files created in this way, IT Services has investigated a number of different software packages for producing PDF and we have purchased a site licence for PDF Converter, which IT Services now recommends.
