Application for an official address on the University web server

Complete the fom on this page if you have web space on the University web server and you wish your web pages to have an official university address. You should only do this once your pages are ready to "go live" and have been given approval. Addresses on the University web site are organized in a hierarchical way, with responsibility devolved to the appropriate level in the hierarchy.

Addresses at the top level of the hierarchy must be approved by the University's web editorial board. Top level addresses are those like this:
http://www.st-andrews.ac.uk/basketwork/
Schools and administrative units typically have addresses at the top level.

Addresses further down the hierarchy must be authorised by the head of the school or unit within whose web space the address appears. For example the Reed-gathering group, whose web pages are located in their group web-space, might apply for an address like this:
http://www.st-andrews.ac.uk/basketwork/reedgathering/
This address would require the authorisation of the person responsible for the School of Basketwork's web-space.

Student societies should not apply using this form. The Students' Association has its own web domain and student societies should discuss their web address with the officers of the Association. A student society whose web pages are on the University web server will have an unofficial web address using the tilde.

Applications for web space must be made on a separate form.
