Application for personal space on the University web server

Use this form to apply for webspace either for your own individual web pages. There is a separate form for applications for group web space.

Students and members of staff can apply to publish material in their personal space on the University web server. External users cannot be allocated personal web space.

Web address

The web address (URL) of your web space will be:
http://www.st-andrews.ac.uk/~xxxx/
where xxxx is your computer username.

If you require an "official" web address you should apply for it once your web pages are ready to "go live". An official web address is one which assigns your space a place within the structure of the University's web site, and which does not use the tilde (~) character.

Applications for an official address must be made on a separate form.

Your own personal username
Purpose for which the webspace is needed.
People use personal web space while learning we-authoring skills and for developing new sites. Personal web space is also sometimes used for distributing teaching material. If your web site is being created on behalf of a group of any sort, you will probably find it better to apply for shared web space which can be accessed by the whole group.
The usual space allocation on the web server is 10 Megabytes. If you will require more, or if you have any other special requirements, please indicate here.
