Biography

Philippe Beaulieu-Brossard is a Mackenzie King Scholar and PhD candidate in International Relations at the University of St-Andrews. His main research interest focuses on developing a methodology to analyse semantic relationships between theory and practice in International Relations and stress their implications. Philippe's thesis aims to apply this methodology to the Iranian nuclear crisis by comparing U.S., Russian, Iranian and International Atomic Energy Agency's (IAEA) official and academic perspectives from 1998 to 2012. Philippe holds a M.A. degree in Political Science from the Universite of Quebec at Montreal (UQAM) with the highest distinction. His MA thesis "Russia and the Weight of Greatness Insecurity: the Impact of International Events on Identity and Security" received an award of excellence. He presented his work in numerous papers, conferences and medias, and was a visiting student at the Institute for Canadian and United States Studies of the Russian Academy of Sciences in Moscow in 2007. He is currently an Associate Research Fellow of Raoul-Dandurand Chair, Montreal, QC, Canada. Philippe is socially involved at the University of Saint-Andrews. He was the Safety Officer of the University of St. Andrews Sailing Club in 2011 and the postgraduate representative of the same organization in 2010.
