North America

Overview

This scheme is mostly administered by the International Office.

There are about 30 places in total. All places are at good quality schools with plenty of appropriate courses.

If you are studying joint honours with IR and another subject, you should check that your other School is comfortable with the courses on offer (Schools where 4th year courses build directly on what you learn in the 3rd year, such as Economics or Management, can have problems with this).

Procedures for application

You need to fill in the application form for North American exchanges which can be found on the study abroad website here.

You need to find two referees to support your application. If you are a joint honours student you should generally ask one tutor from each department. If you are single honours IR you need to find two IR tutors. It is up to tutors whether they are willing to write a reference for you.
