CENTRE FOR SYRIAN STUDIES INTERNSHIPS

The Centre for Syrian Studies in the School of International Relations and the Asfari Foundation solicit applications from St Andrews students for a one-­month internship with partner institutions in the Middle East, most likely in Lebanon or Jordan.

Partner institutions could include the Carnegie Foundation Middle East program in Beirut and the Civil Society program at the American University of Beirut

Likely work will involve research on aspects of contemporary Syrian politics and likely time frame the summer of 2013.

Costs of travel and accommodation will be covered by the Asfari foundation up to £1500.

Eligibility: Current St Andrews students at the undergraduate or post-­-graduate levels, in the School of IR or studying Arabic or else students from another school who have studied Syria or have a project to do so.

Applications: please provide by March 1 a CV, transcript, and one page statement about any past study of Syria and aspects of Syria that interest you which you would like to research. Applications should be sent to Professor Raymond Hinnebusch, e-­-mailed to rh10@st-­-andrews.ac.uk
