Centre for Syrian Studies

 Mission Statement

The mission of the Centre is to foster scholarship and dialogue about Syria and exchanges between Syrian and British scholars and others. It will undertake research on contemporary Syria, specifically, on economic and political reform in Syria and on security and foreign policy issues concerning Syria.

 

About the Centre

The Centre is a unit of the Institute for Middle East, Central Asian, and Caucasus Studies, a part of and under the authority of the University of St. Andrews. The activities of the Centre include sponsoring of fellows and research, a speakers series, an annual conference of workshop and publications.

Call for Applications from Syrian Citizens for the Asfari Foundation Postgraduate Scholarships at the University of St Andrews for 2012-2013

Closing date for applications: 30 May 2012

The Asfari Foundation will provide Scholarships for Syrian students to do post-gradate study at the University of St Andrews, Scotland, beginning in the autumn 2012. The University of St Andrews is the third oldest university in the English-speaking world, founded in 1413, and is one of the top universities in the UK.

There are two one-year Masters scholarships available in either of the Schools of Management; Geography and Geosciences (MSc Sustainable Development); International Relations; Psychology (MSc Adults with Learning Disabilities who have Significant and Complex Needs); or the English Language Teaching Centre. There is also one full scholarship or two partial funded scholarships for PhD study in the School of International Relations.
