New Research Fellows
The CPCS is pleased to welcome two new Research Fellows: Dr Sandra Pogodda will be collaborating with Oliver p. Richmond and Roger Mac ginty on the FP7 funded project "The Role of Governance in the Resolution of Socio-Economic and Political Conflict in India and Europe"; Dr Ioannis Tellidis will contribute to the administration of the centre and collaborate with Oliver P. Richmond in researching local forms of critical agency and resistance, and their role in constructing hybrid or post-liberal forms of peace and states.

Book series
Palgrave Macmillan have given the go ahead for a new book series entitled 'Rethinking Political Violence' to be edited by Roger Mac Ginty. The first publications in the series will come out in 2011. Topics covered by the first books in the series include militarism and the Turkish state, remembrance and forgetting after war, gender and representation in conflict, demotion and conflict, and cultures of violence.
New Research Grant - further information
A new grant has been awarded to Oliver Richmond and Roger MacGinty. It is for research on “The Role of Governance and Resolution of Socio-economic and Political Conflict in India and Europe”. The grant is for a total of €2.91m and CPCS’s share is €791k FEC. This project brings together a number of institutions in Europe and India, including PRIO, the Berghof Foundation, and several universities. Oliver Richmond is the Scientific Coordinator of the project and Roger MacGinty leads one of the working groups.

New Research Grant
Two CPCS members, Professor Oliver Richmond and Dr. Roger Mac Ginty, have received a major EU FP-7 Grant entitled “The Role of Governance in the Resolution of Socio-economic and Political Conflict in India and Europe” which will examine peace interventions in these regions from a critical and comparative perspective. Professor Richmond and Dr. MacGinty will be part of an international team based in Norway, Germany, Italy and India. Work on this new project will begin in 2010, and will bring a new research fellow and PhD candidate to work in the CPCS.
New Research Fellow
The CPCS is pleased to welcome a new research fellow, Dr. Giovanna Bono, a Marie Curie fellow who will be working on issues related to European Union approaches to peace-building in the context of Africa.

Postgraduate Workshops
The CPCS will host two postgraduate workshops this spring.
'Research in Risky Settings' will take place on the 7th of May, 2010 (more details to follow). This workshop will prepare postgraduate students for the challenges of fieldwork in peace and conflict studies. It will involve experts in field research, ethics, planning and preparation, and other elements of field research. For more information, contact Karl Sandstrom (ks425@st-andrews.ac.uk)
The CPCS Interns are planning a one-day event, 'CPCS Research Frontiers', tentatively planned for April 1 (details to follow) in which staff and students will have the opportunity to showcase their new research and discuss new directions in peace and conflict studies. CPCS Lecture

For the fourth year the Centre for Peace and Conflict Studies offers an opportunity for Senior Honours and MLitt students in Peace and Conflict Studies of the University of St Andrews to participate as an intern in a conflict mapping research project.
