Associations and Organisations

A number of student-led associations and organisations contribute to development and profile of International Relations throughout the University and the community.  These bodies - such as the International Politics Association and the Model United Nations - have proven successful not only in attracting a range of high-profile academics and practioners to the University but also in promoting the School and its research to the wider public.

International Politics Association   The IPA exists to increase awareness within the University and across the community by providing access to those involved in the practice of International Relations and political affairs. The IPA provides a platform for figures to express their views and offer their insights.
Model United Nations   The Model United Nations plays an active role in promoting awareness and understanding of international affairs among the student body through simulated debates and seminars.
The St Andrews Social Scientist    Magazine of the St Andrews Microfinance Society
The Foreign Affairs Society   The Foreign Affairs Society aims to facilitate interaction and dialogue between members of the University who are interested in the geo-demographic and politico-economic issues relating to present, past, or future concerns to the international system; provide a geo-demographic & politico-economic platform for debates and round table discussion; host speakers, experts, and lecturers on contentious issues that concern today’s global community; co-operate with any concerned or interested society or individual, either within St. Andrews or beyond it, for cultural, social, or other society based events; and encourage people to re-evaluate opinions, perceptions, and myths in the spirit of enhancing knowledge and understanding. Our newest platform for doing so is our online journal. Check it out at http://standrewsfas.co.uk/! We are always looking for more people to get involved, so if you are interested, please send us an e-mail as fasjournal -at- gmail.com.
