Entry Clearance Correction Scheme
Entry Clearance Officers in Embassies / High Commissions / Consulates overseas have a set of instructions (Immigration Directorates Instructions or IDIs) that determines how long a student's visa should be valid for after the course of study is completed.
If you applied for your visa in your home country your entry clearance (visa) should end:
- Four months after the end of the course, if your course lasts 12 months or more.
- Two months after the end of the course, if your course lasts six months or more, but less than 12 months.
- One month after the end of your course, if your course is a pre-sessional course of less than six months.
- Seven days after the end of your course, if your course is less than six months long, and is not a pre-sessional course.
If you think that your Entry Clearance (visa) has not been issued in accordance with these instructions the International Student Advisers may be able to help you get the error corrected. If you would like to make an enquiry by email please scan your Entry Clearance Certificate (visa) so that we can clearly see the detail and attach it to your email or make an appointment (don’t forget to bring along your passport) to come in and see us.
