Teaching and Research Interests

Early medieval European and British history, c. 300-1100, especially Carolingian political history and the reign of Lothar I (795-855); other areas of interest are the use of charters and numismatics for the study of political history, and Scandinavian history to 1500, especially the history of Finland. Elina Screen is writing the Sylloge of Coins of the British Isles volumes covering the Norwegian collections of Anglo-Saxon coins. She is General Editor of the Medieval European Coinage project and Senior Editor of the British Numismatic Journal
