Thank you for visiting our website. We have organised a series of fun and informative events to be held on Friday, 24th September 2010 and we hope you will join us in St Andrews to make it a truly memorable occasion.
This is a landmark event, as this will be the first time that Scotland will be hosting a Researchers' Night. While we celebrate in Scotland, over 50 venues all over Europe will be holding similar events simultaneously, from as far away as Thessalonki in Greece to the Natural History Museum in London.
The School of History has worked together with MUSA (The Museum of the University of St Andrews) and Historic Scotland to bring you a programme of events which we hope will have something of interest for everyone!
So, come along and let our Public Lecture series take you on a journey back in time to the creation of the Scottish Universities, or the adventures of the Scots in the Thirty Years' War. Or, perhaps a visit to St Andrews Cathedral- where you can glimpse some of the relics of St Andrews- is more your cup of tea? Family historians out there, come and try our Scotland, Scandinavia and Northern Europe Database with its c.8000 records. Browse our Poster Exhibition and explore the depths of James VI's canny brand of diplomacy.
See our Events page for more details of everything that we have organised for you.
All our events are free but some require booking- TO BOOK NOW!
(tickets may be available on the day from our Ticket Office at St. John's House (Old Class Library, 71 South Street but book now to avoid disappointment!)
And finally, help us celebrate this evening and join us for some live music and wine from 9pm - all are welcome!
*******************************************************
Due to the popularity of Billy Kay's 'Knee Deep in Claret- a celebration of Wine, France and Scotland' this event is now fully booked and there are no further tickets available.
For those of you who won't be able to make it our little corner of Fife on the 24th of September - we are sorry we cannot offer you a glass of wine, beautiful scenery, and a fun-filled evening of history, laughter, and music! However, for you, we have created the Scotland and the Wider World : Online multilingual podcasts series which we shall be launching on the 24th of September 2010. We hope you will enjoy it!
All our podcasts and webcasts will be available in English but select podcasts will also be available in Dutch, Finnish, French, Gaelic, German, Italian, Latin, Scots, and Swedish.
