Supervisor: Dr Malcolm Walsby
Shanti graduated in Italian Studies at the University of Udine in 2010 and has an M.Litt in the "History of the Book" from the University of St Andrews (2011).
Her doctoral research investigates the presence of Italian printed books in sixteenth-century France and their importance in shaping one of the most fruitful yet complex cultural exchanges in early-modern Europe.
This thesis examines the circulation and the collection of items that were at simultaneously material objects and texts. As a result, both the trade network between the two countries and the readership and ownership these books will be at the heart of this study.
