All students are required to familiarise themselves with the academic alert system, and to respond appropriately to any alert which they may receive. Your attention is drawn in particular to alert categories 7 and 10. It is your responsibility to take action in response to an academic alert.
Full details of the academic alert system, including details of the different categories of alert, can be found in the student handbook: http://www.st-andrews.ac.uk/studenthandbook/attendance/academicalert/
The School of History will apply the following criteria concerning the issuing of a ‘category 10’ academic alert for absence from compulsory elements of a module or non-submission of coursework:
A student who has missed more than three tutorials/seminars, or three consecutive tutorials/seminars, will be awarded 0X unless a good reason for absence is presented to the module coordinator within seven days of receipt of the alert.
A student who has failed to submit all the compulsory coursework for a module by the final deadlines (Friday 16th December, 5.00 pm for semester 1 and Tuesday 8th May, 5.00 pm for semester 2), or who does not complete the examination for a module without good reason, will be awarded 0X.
Students who have received a ‘category 10’ academic alert will receive no credits for the module, with no right to reassessment.
