Language Training

The School of History and the Faculty of Arts recognise that a command of languages other than English is a crucial research and career skill. Training is therefore provided in a variety of ancient and modern languages in a number of different ways: there are courses offered by instructors who work specifically for postgraduate students in the School of History; there are language classes available to postgraduates in Arts subjects across the Faculty; and it can also be arranged for postgraduate students of History to take part in language classes offered within the School of Modern Languages. Students whose studies make foreign language skills necessary or desirable should contact the Director of Postgraduates.
