Tuesday 04 December 2012

A team of students from St Andrews University have won the RWE npower 'Future Leaders' Challenge.

Two of the four members in the winning team, Team Penguin, and four members of a second team which came runner-up, were Department of Geography & Sustainable Development students. The Challenge is for groups of students to identify a project that will get people in their community living more sustainably. The team then has to manage this project from start to finish and ensure that it has a positive and long lasting impact on their community. RWE npower choose 8 teams with the best project ideas and the 8 teams were asked to put their project ideas into practice, attend an interactive, team–building weekend in Dartmoor, then produce a DVD showing their idea in action before the grand final, which took place last week. A panel of judges selected the winning team (Team Penguin) who won win the prize: a fantastic trip to the Arctic to go dog sledding in the land of the midnight sun!!

Well done to Team Penguin!
