Geographically Weighted Regression

Welcome to the CGI GWR portal!

Geographically Weighted Regression (GWR) is a method of analysing spatially varying relationships. It is increasingly being used in geography and other disciplines who deal with spatial data. GWR allows individuals explore and understand the spatial distribution of variables or processes by fitting a regression equation to any point in space – this provides a powerful framework for exploring spatial heterogeneity and understanding spatial relationships. If you work with any form of  spatial data, we strongly encourage you to consider incorporating GWR into your regular analytical workbench.

You can find a convenient treatment of GWR in the book Geographically Weighted Regression: the analysis of spatially varying relationships, available from Amazon and Wiley. The CGI website also features a wide range of research and resources focused around GWR, including referencessoftware packages, and a brief introduction to the concept of Geographically Weighted Regression.

Note: GWR portal is still under construction. Please contact us with any questions or comments.
