Watson Forbes Centenary 12-15 November 2009

Welcome

Watson Forbes

Forbesfest celebrates the centenary of the birth of twentieth-century St Andrews' most eminent musical son - the viola player Watson Forbes, one of the most celebrated British instrumentalists of his generation, who for thirty years played with one of the foremost British string quartets, the Aeolian Quartet; and who rounded off his career with a decade as Head of Music, BBC Scotland (1964-74).

Forbesfest is organized jointly by the University of St Andrews and the Royal Scottish Academy of Music and Drama, Scotland's national conservatoire, whose distinguished teachers and strong links with visiting artists ensure the fullest preparation for its students' professional careers.  It would not be happening without the generous support of the many institutions, trusts, and individual music-lovers who have financed and helped us in other material ways.  Their names are listed on our Donors and Patrons page.
