Faculty Update: Publication of Dr Martin-Jones' latest monograph: Deleuze Reframed

Deleuze Reframed, by Damien Sutton and David Martin-Jones has been released by I.B. Tauris. This easily digestible introduction looks at the key ideas promoted by Deleuze, both in his own work and in his notoriously difficult collaborations with Felix Guattari, to make them both fresh and relevant to the visual arts today. New Leverhulme Research Project: Dynamics of world cinema

'Dynamics of World Cinema: Transnational Channels of Global Film Circulation' is the title of the large research project (2008-2012) funded by the Leverhulme Trust at £240,000. The project will run over 30 months and will encompass the work of two post-doctoral researchers, as well as varous events and research periods in France, India, Australia and the USA. Principal investigator Dina Iordanova and co-investigator Prof. Stuart Cunningham (director of the Australian Research Council's Centre of Excellence for Creative Industries and Innovation, The Queensland University of Technology in Brisbane) will begin work on the project in October 2008.

Alongside legendary Polish journalist Adam Michnik and the Hungarian novelist László Krasznahorkai, whose work is recreated in Bela Tarr's cinema, Dina Iordanova is a featured guest at the annual event of the European Association of Journalists, dedicated to 'The Looming Russian Shadow' in Donostia-San Sebastian, Spain, July 2008.

Dina Iordanova has been tremendously research active in her leave year, giving featured talks in featured talks at the Universities of Groningen (Netherlands), Oxford (UK) and Copenhagen (Denmark); carrying out research in French Film Festivals and Paris Cinemas, funded by the Caledonian Research Foundation and the Royal Society of Edinburgh, and preparing to give a keynote talk t the Baltic Cinemas: Past and Present Conference in September 2008.
